Spread the Love Challenge: 9 Ways to Lead a More Positive and Impactful Life in 2019

There’s always something exciting about the fresh start of a new calendar year. It’s a great excuse to join a new gym, sign up for a tennis league, try a different sport, or start practicing a new habit. It can also be a time to reflect on relationships and how we connect with people, including those close to us, those we do not yet know, and even ourselves.

AD LOVE is reflecting on how to improve in 2019

In 2018 we started this brand to spread love, using tennis as a vehicle. Through our tennis apparel, we remind people to add love into everything that they do--whether that be on the court, or off of it. In giving 10% of all of our profits (plus $1 from each shirt and hat sale) to our Junior Tennis & Learning partners, NYJTL and Norwalk Grassroots Tennis, our business helps to provide less-advantaged children with access to after-school educational and tennis programming--spreading a love for the sport to the next generation and helping to improve the lives of thousands of students.

Here at AD LOVE we’ve been planning some big things for 2019 and making a few new habits of our own. We’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished last year, but with the start of this new year, we’re hoping to challenge ourselves to do more. That’s why we’re launching the Spread the Love Challenge as a part of our regular blog series in 2019. The purpose of these challenges is to inspire the AD LOVE movement and to help our followers make the world a better place--through simple, small, and enjoyable  means.

9 Easy Ways To Lead a More Positive and Impactful Life in 2019:

To help you get started, we’ve come up with 9 easy ways for you to start leading a more positive and impactful life in 2019. Challenge yourself with one or all of these actions, remembering that any small action repeated over time can lead to significant change. Enjoy!

 

  • Write down three things that you’re thankful for at the beginning and end of every day. Putting yourself in a positive and gratitude-filled mindset not only brings more joy to your life but puts you in the mental state to share that love with others.
  • Compliment at least three people every day. Whether it be your co-workers, your barista, a stranger in the street, or your partner--set a goal to put a smile on the face of at least three people each and every day.
  • Set a recurring monthly donation, or volunteer, at an organization you feel is doing positive work. It can be a large organization, such as the USTA Foundation, or a small non-profit working to make your community a better place--but donating regularly (either with your time or your money) can make a big impact and make you feel great each and every month.
  • Go on a gratitude walk every day. Take a walk around the block and think about all of the things you’re thankful for. It can be something big, like your neighbors or community--or something as simple as the sunshine. Setting aside time to get moving and to reflect on all that you’re grateful for can make a huge impact on your mood and inspire you to share your gifts with others.
  • Set aside a time every month to reconnect with old friends/acquaintances. There’s nothing better than receiving a card or a call from an old friend. Set aside an hour each month to catch up with someone, write a letter, or shoot off an email. Not only will you be making someone else’s day, but 10 years from now, you’ll be glad that you kept in touch.
  • Cut out social media for at least one day a week. Although our social media platforms do a great job of connecting us, they can make it difficult to live in the moment. One day a week, unplug from social platforms and focus on enjoying the day with the ones that you’re with.
  • Write a good review of a local business once a month. We love those local businesses that help make a difference in our communities. Aside from supporting them with our business, the most important thing we can do to help them is to share a positive review on Yelp, Facebook or Google. It usually takes fewer than 10 minutes to write a good review, and that small act can make a business owner’s day for years to come.
  • Send thank you notes to friends, family, and strangers. When was the last time you sent a thank you note? Recognizing the good deeds of those around us not only helps to make others feel appreciated but can show you how much you have to be grateful for.
  • Share positive quotes. Grab some sticky notes and share some of your favorite quotes with your neighbors, office-mates, and friends.
